Dear Pilots/Students. The 15th of February marks the end of my first year as an FAA AME in Utah. During my first year, I was committed to offering FAA exams for $120, which is $40 below the lowest priced exams along the Wasatch Front (which themselves are some of the lowest in the country). I did this partly to attract customers, and partly because I did not feel it appropriate to charge full market prices while I was still learning the ins and outs of FAA exams. After a year, I now believe I can consider my “internship” over. Based on a year of feedback from both the FAA and from my customers, I believe I am offering as good or better quality service than other AMEs in the area. And to remain economically viable, I now feel compelled to raise my prices closer to the Utah baseline. However, I am still committed to offering the lowest prices in northern Utah. I’m happy to match the price of any other AME who is charging less than $150 for an FAA exam or $50 for an EKG. In addition to these prices, I will continue to offer free consultations, free administrative support for all exams that I do, and probably the most flexible scheduling in the area, with appointments available within 24-48 hours at almost all times of year (except when I am on vacation, which is about three times a year, for 3-4 weeks each).
